Cillian Murphy to return as Tommy Shelby for Peaky Blinders movie

‘Peaky Blinders’ creator Steven Knight has confirmed that Cillian Murphy will be reprising the part of Tommy Shelby for the movie version of the hit BBC drama, Reuters reported.

According to an article by People magazine, Knight told UK outlet Birmingham World on Tuesday that star Cillian Murphy — who recently took home his first Oscar — will reprise his role for the upcoming film.

“He definitely is returning for it,” Knight, 64, said of Murphy, 47. “We’re shooting it in September just down the road in Digbeth [England].”

He also praised Murphy’s performance in Oppenheimer, telling the outlet that the Best Actor Academy Award he won earlier this month “was so deserved.”

“I mean he’s brilliant, and he’s such a great human being and he leads the line when we’re shooting and he’s so levelheaded and straightforward. He deserves everything he gets,” Knight said.
