‘Congratulations Jungkook’: BTS member’s ‘Seven’ dominates Billboard charts

Congratulations Jungkook

SEOUL: Jungkook, a member of the famous K-pop group BTS, continues to dominate the global music charts, sparking a trending hashtag ‘Congratulations Jungkook’ on social media as fans celebrate his success.

According to Billboard, on September 5, Jungkook’s Seven ft Latto had maintained its No. 1 position on both global charts for seven weeks in a row. This makes it the first song of 2023 to spend its first seven weeks at No. 1 on either of the charts. The previous record holder was Miley Cyrus’s Flowers which held the No. 1 spot on both charts for its first six weeks.

During the week of August 25th to 31st, Seven had a remarkable 97 million streams and 12,000 digital sales all around the world.

Meanwhile, back in July, Jungkook made history by being the first Korean solo artist to have a song debut at No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot 100, Global 200, and Global Excl. US charts at the same time. He achieved this with his solo song Seven featuring Latto, which instantly climbed to No. 1 on all three charts.

Since then, Seven has stayed at the No. 1 spot on both the Global 200 and Global Excl. U.S. charts. It even broke the previous record held by BTS’s “Dynamite” as the Korean song with the most weeks at No. 1.
