Deportation call for Selena Gomez as she responds with jest

WEB DESK: Actor and singer Selena Gomez cracked a joke at US senatorial candidate Sam Parker who called for her deportation, following the removal of her tearful video as a reaction to mass deportations.

Following US president Donald Trump’s orders to deport ‘illegal’ immigrants and a crackdown on especially Mexican communities, actor and singer Selena had taken to Instagram to share her outburst.

She, however, reportedly removed the video. Parker, was quick to respond to Selena using his social media to say that the actor should also be deported.

Selena, who herself is a third-generation American-Mexican, then posted another story saying ‘Oh Mr Parker, Mr Parker. Thanks for the laugh and the threat.’

In the video, which is still available to Pop Base, Selena can be seen weeping stating how helpless she feels.

“I just wanted to say I am sorry…all my people are getting attacked, the children…they don’t understand. I am so sorry, I wish I could do something but I can’t, I don’t know what to do, I’ll try everything, I promise..”

The video struck a chord with many of her followers, particularly in light of a significant operation conducted by the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), which resulted in the apprehension of 956 people – the highest number of arrests since Trump took over the White House.

Following her initial post, Selena shared another message stating, “Apparently, it is not acceptable to show empathy for people”, which she also shortly after deleted.

The response led to speculation regarding whether she faced extreme backlash for her remarks or if powerful external pressures influenced her decision to remove the content.
