Disney’s ‘Wish’ takes you on a magical journey

WEB DESK: Disney’s upcoming animated feature Wish is set to take audiences on a magical journey as it delves into the origins of the Wishing Star, a cherished element in Disney Animation’s legacy.
The movie, scheduled for release on November 22, offers a glimpse into the fantastical kingdom of Rosas, ruled by the formidable King Magnifico, portrayed by Chris Pine, and built upon the dreams and aspirations of its inhabitants.
Oscar-winning actor Ariana DeBose assumes the role of Asha, a 17-year-old inhabitant of Rosas. The story unfolds as Asha, who lives in this enchanting realm, inadvertently summons “Star,” a cosmic character from the starry night sky, after making a heartfelt wish.
Joining the cast is Alan Tudyk, providing the voice for Asha’s trusty pet goat, Valentino. The ensemble also includes Angelique Cabral as Queen Amaya, Victor Garber as Asha’s grandfather, Natasha Rothwell as Asha’s mother, along with Jennifer Kumiyama, Evan Peters, Harvey Guillén, and Ramy Youssef.

“Asha is the ultimate ordinary hero,” remarks Jennifer Lee, writer and Chief Creative Officer at Disney Animation. Asha’s journey, portrayed as a relatable coming-of-age tale, explores her transition from idealism to becoming an engaged participant in a world full of complexities.
Meanwhile, Julia Michaels, the Grammy-winning songwriter behind hits like Justin Bieber’s Sorry and Selena Gomez’s Hands to Myself collaborates with Benjamin Rice to pen seven original songs for the film, including a powerful ballad for King Magnifico, as well as the emotive This Wish sung by DeBose as Asha gazes at the stars in pursuit of her dreams.
The movie marks the feature-film debut of Disney orchestrator Dave Metzger, celebrated for his work on Disney hits like Frozen and Moana.
Wish promises to uplift audiences with its warm and inviting heroine and a captivating exploration of the impact one can have in the world.
