WEB DESK: Television personality and actress Fiza Ali has delivered a noteworthy perspective on maintaining amicable friendships even after the decision to end a marriage.
During an appearance on the Nida Yasir’s morning talk show, she candidly discussed her divorce and expressed dismay at how she stepped away from acting due to the discomfort caused by mutual friends who engaged in gossip about her ex-husband.
Despite the lack of animosity between them post-separation, she expressed her dissatisfaction with acquaintances who spoke negatively about him.

“Whatever issues I had with Fawad, it doesn’t give an outsider the right to step up and abuse him in this manner. Especially when I haven’t said anything about him, as a friend why are you backbiting about him?” she questioned.
Fiza emphasised her inability to tolerate such behavior, particularly when friends insisted she reveal details about her marriage struggles, even though she and her ex-husband remained close following their divorce.
“I was never abused or beaten during my marriage; Fawad was not that kind of person! There can be several reasons why a couple can end their marriage, and it doesn’t solely mean abuse was involved,” she clarified.
Her openness on this matter is significant, challenging the prevailing assumption in Pakistani society that a couple should only divorce in cases of abuse.
Fiza Ali also highlighted that there are various reasons why couples may choose to part ways, urging society not to limit divorce as an option solely under extreme circumstances.
Fiza’s statement also underscored the importance of respecting individuals’ privacy. Instead of making unwarranted assumptions, she encouraged people to refrain from prying into others’ lives and to mind their own business.
