Elton John gets candid about his health issues

The legendary musician, Elton John, has come forward with a confession about his health. He has shared that after suffering from an eye infection, he has become blind in one eye.

Speaking in an interview, the 77-year-old music superstar said, “I unfortunately lost my eyesight in my right eye in July because I had an infection in the South of France…It’s been four months now since I haven’t been able to see. My left eye is not the greatest.”

He candidly shared that there is always hope that the vision will recover, but for now he is forced to live with the condition. He said that it is causing issues for his work too, “Because I can’t see a lyric for start.”

John said that his doctors are trying to treat his eye problems but he is still grateful for the life he has.

Talking about his upcoming Disney+ documentary, Elton John: Never Too Late, he said, “I’m so proud of the documentary. I’m proud of my sons. I’m proud of my attitude toward myself and what’s going on.”

The winner of Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony awards – or as known as ‘EGOT winner’ – had shared in September that he is healing from a severe eye infection that has impaired his vision. Before this, in January, the singer had also undergone a knee replacement surgery followed by the same surgery for his other knee in March.

Joking about all his health issues, he had said in October, “To be honest with you, there’s not much of me left. I don’t have tonsils, adenoids or an appendix. I don’t have a prostate. I don’t have a right hip or a left knee or a right knee. In fact, the only thing left to me is my left hip.”

“But I’m still here,” Elton John said.
