PESHAWAR: In a poignant turn of events during the annual convocation of Khyber College of Dentistry (KCD) in Peshawar, emotions ran high as the gold medal awarded posthumously to Palwasha Afzal was presented to her grieving parents. The hall, filled with the joy of academic achievement, was momentarily subdued when Palwasha’s name was called for the prestigious recognition.

Palwasha Afzal, a talented student hailing from DI Khan, had passed away two years ago. Despite her absence, her remarkable achievements were honored as her parents stepped forward to receive the four gold medals she had earned in various fields of dentistry.

The emotional scene resonated with participants, creating a somber yet profoundly touching atmosphere. Palwasha’s dedication and excellence were remembered, and the presentation of the gold medals to her parents became a symbolic acknowledgment of her academic prowess.

The convocation, a celebration of academic accomplishments, saw a total of 162 students graduating from dentistry. Among them, 108 doctors were recognised with gold medals for achieving outstanding results. Notably, Abdul Hakeem stood out with an exceptional tally of nine gold medals, a remarkable feat that highlighted his academic excellence.

In the convocation ceremony, degrees were distributed among the 162 students who successfully completed their studies in dentistry. The event not only celebrated academic achievements but also provided a platform to honor the dedication and hard work of the graduating class.

Palwasha’s posthumous recognition at the convocation emphasised the enduring impact that individuals can have on an academic community.
