WEB DESK: Mark Acheson, known for his role as a postal worker in the beloved holiday film, “Elf”, recently revealed that the producers were mulling cutting one of the movie’s most iconic scenes.
Elf was released in 2003 and has since been considered a holiday classic along with the first Home Alone movies.

The movie centres on Buddy, played by Will Ferrel, a human raised by Santa’s elves who ventures to the human world after finally discovering he’s a human and not an elf.
Ferrel’s character then travels to the New York City in the United States, where he connects with his biological father, Walter Hobbs, played by James Caan.
Acheson was initially cast to deliver just a single line, however, during the filming, he improvised.
Acheson claims that he contacted his agent who informed him that “they wanted me to come in for a line with Will Ferrel. I agreed without hesitation.”
Elf director, Jon Favreau, encouraged improvisation, which resulted in a scene that would go on to define an entire generation’s holidays.
In the beloved scene, Acheson’s character shares a drink with Buddy. This then leads to a hilarious exchange where he claims to be 26 years old.
“You are young, you are so young”, Buddy then responds.
However, producers were reportedly concerned that Acheson, who was 46 at the time, could not convince portray someone in their mid-20s.
“The producers wanted to cut the entire scene because of that”, Acheson revealed.
However, the director was adamant to let the scene remain in the movie, insisting that the humour stemmed from the absurdity of the line.
The improvised exchange has since tickled many a viewer’s fancy, with many taking to social media to share the clip.
Meanwhile, in a separate interview, James Caan admitted that he did not find Ferrel particularly amusing during the shooting.
