ISLAMABAD: This Eid ul-Fitr, cinema screens across Pakistan are set to dazzle with the release of four blockbuster movies. Among them, one is a highly anticipated Pakistani production, while the remaining three are major Hollywood releases.
DAGHABAAZ DIL
“Daghabaaz Dil” is the latest offering from Wajahat Rauf (“Karachi Se Lahore”, “Chhalawa”). The film stars Mehwish Hayat and Ali Rehman Khan in the lead. The teaser for the film shows pretty standard Eid movie fare, with a wedding going on with some drama ensuing.
Along for the ride are Babar Ali, Saleem Sheikh, Momin Saqib, Laila Wasti and Ayesha Khan. The film promises song, dance, and Wajahat Rauf’s signature laughs and thrills.
The movie plans to serve all those classic middle-class family rivalries in the most hilarious way possible because, let’s face it, we’ve all been there and can’t get enough of these relatable moments.
Daghabaaz Dil is written by Mohsin Ali & Wajahat Rauf, produced by HUM Network Ltd. and Wajahat Rauf, Shazia Wajahat & Badar Ikram are the producers, directed by Wajahat Rauf. The cast includes Mehwish Hayat, Ali Rehman, Momin Saqib, Babar Ali, Beo Raana Zafar, Laila Wasti, Saleem Sheikh, Tazeen Hussain, Michelle Mumtaz, Ayesha Khan and others.
So, grab your popcorn and mark your calendar, this one might have all the masala for a family Eid in cinema experience.
GODZILLA X KONG: THE NEW EMPIRE
Without a doubt the biggest commercial release this Eid-ul-Fitr will be Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire. Focusing on the two biggest titans of the silver screen, this film will be about them facing off against another competing monster from the underground world.
The film will star Milly Bobbie Brown and Vera Farmiga reprising their roles from the previous films. However, people will only go to see the mayhem and destruction that the two titans will wreak on the big screen.
MONKEY MAN
“Monkey Man” is Dev Patel’s (Slumdog Millionaire, Lion, The Green Knight, The Man Who Knew Infinity) directorial debut. A far cry from his more somber, serious projects, “Monkey Man” seems to be an all out action entertainer with hand to hand brawls that we’re used to seeing in films like “John Wick” or the Raid films.
The titular figure seems to be taken from Hindu myths about a protector of the forest. It could be based on the Hanuman character, but mainly it’s about Dev Patel beating the living daylights out of enemies. You’ll be watching this one for the carnage.
CIVIL WAR
“Civil War” is perhaps the only thought-provoking movie releasing this Eid. It centers on a second civil war in America which divides the nation. The film is ostensibly based on growing resentment within the country which has manifested in incidents like Charlottesville, the United States Capitol Attack, Antifa riots and Black Lives Matter protests.
Produced by film studio A24, known for promoting original stories and bold filmmakers, it stars Kirsten Dunst (Spiderman, Melancholia), Wagner Moura (Narcos), Nick Offerman (Parks & Recreation) and Jesse Plemons (Breaking Bad, El
