WEB DESK: A French man of Pakistani descent, known on TikTok as The French Pakistani, has voiced disappointment after being mocked for his Urdu during a recent trip to Pakistan.
The TikToker, who has 11.4K followers and nearly 383,000 likes on the platform, often posts videos in Urdu while describing himself as a “proud Pakistani.” However, his visit to Pakistan left him upset after locals ridiculed his accent, which many social media users described as “more French than Urdu.”
“People said I’m not Pakistani”
In a TikTok video shared after his trip, he revealed how the comments had deeply affected him. “When I spoke Urdu, people told me I’m not a Pakistani. I don’t know why they say that. They laughed at my Urdu and now I feel like I’ll never go back to Pakistan,” he said.
He added that the experience made him feel excluded from his identity, noting that people often speculate about his background. “Some say I’m Moroccan, French, Algerian or Nigerian, but they’re all wrong. No one has truly discovered where I’m from,” he remarked in another post.
Defending his identity
Despite the trolling, The French Pakistani insisted he would not let negativity define him. In a separate video, he appeared in a green jersey bearing both Pakistani and Palestinian flags, declaring himself the “real Pakistani” who represents his country to the world.
The Thursday Murder Club: Yay or nay?
Interestingly, many TikTok users admired his unique French-accented Urdu, with some saying it was the first time they had heard the language spoken in such a way.
Apart from addressing identity issues, he regularly shares light-hearted videos about food and culture. From enjoying cake rusks with Rooh Afza to wishing Pakistanis worldwide a happy Independence Day, his content often revolves around celebrating Pakistani traditions.
While his comments sparked debate online, many supporters encouraged him to continue embracing his heritage regardless of criticism.
