LOS ANGELES: Legendary Hollywood actor Gene Hackman and his wife, classical pianist Betsy Arakawa, were found dead Wednesday afternoon in their home in the Santa Fe Summit community, northeast of the city.
The couple, along with their dog, were confirmed dead by Santa Fe County Sheriff Adan Mendoza just after midnight Thursday.
Hackman, a two-time Academy Award-winning actor known for his roles in The French Connection and Unforgiven, and Arakawa, a respected pianist, had lived in the quiet Santa Fe area for several years after retiring from the public eye.
Sheriff Mendoza confirmed the deaths, but emphasized there were no immediate signs of foul play. He declined to provide further details, including the cause of death or the exact time the couple had passed away.
