LAHORE: Indian Punjabi film Sardaar Ji 3 has made a sensational debut in Pakistani cinemas, collecting a whopping Rs 4.5 crore on its very first day.
Featuring Indian superstar Diljit Dosanjh and Pakistan’s own Hania Aamir, the film not only broke box office records of past Indian Punjabi releases but also surpassed the opening day collections of some major Bollywood hits, including Salman Khan’s Sultan.
While the film faces backlash and controversy in India due to its Pakistani cast, it has received overwhelming praise in Pakistan.
Critics say the film’s high-quality production, the charismatic pairing of Diljit and Hania, and its vibrant portrayal of Punjabi culture have drawn viewers back to theatres.

In a video message, Hania Aamir thanked Pakistani fans for their love. “Your support has taken Sardaar Ji 3 to new heights. I’m deeply grateful to all my fans,” she said. The movie marks Hania’s debut in Indian Punjabi cinema and critics are lauding her performance.
The massive response is being seen as a much-needed boost for the Pakistani film industry.
While it topped charts in Pakistan, globally Sardaar Ji 3 holds the third-best opening day for a Punjabi film, following Jatt & Juliet 3 and Carry On Jatta.
In an interview with NDTV, producer Gunbir Singh Sidhu revealed that the team faced around a 40% loss in expected revenue due to a more limited theatrical release compared to their previous blockbuster Jatt & Juliet 3, which earned over Rs 100 crore worldwide.
Despite the setback, Sidhu said the team was “overwhelmed” by the overseas response. He added that the decision to release the film internationally was driven by strong fan demand and the need to recover production costs.
