SEOUL: The youngest member of the popular K-pop band BTS Jungkook celebrated his 26th birthday on Friday.
Jungkook’s global fan base is leaving no stone unturned in marking the occasion. Happy Birthday Jungkook is trending across the social media platforms.
Jungkook Global Website, a dedicated fan site, has gone as far as securing a birthday message on a prominent billboard in New York’s iconic Times Square. Similarly, Jungkook’s admirers in China expressed their well-wishes by displaying messages on the screens of the COEX Media Tower in Seoul.
Across the globe, fans have shown their devotion. Hungarian fans illuminated billboards at the Allee Shopping Centre in Budapest, while Japanese enthusiasts did the same in Tokyo’s bustling Shinjuku district. Even Bangkok has joined the celebration, with a birthday billboard prominently displayed on the Empire Tower skyscraper.
Commuters from Taipei, Taiwan, to Seoul, South Korea, have been greeted by posters and LED screens featuring ‘Happy Birthday Jungkook’ in various subway stations.

In addition to these grand gestures, Jungkook’s dedicated fan clubs have come together to raise funds for charitable causes in his name. Notably, Jungkook Japan contributed 10 million won (approximately US$7,500) to Seoul National University’s Children’s Hospital, a place the singer has previously supported with a significant donation of 1 billion won.
Meanwhile, the other members of BTS have also been keeping busy. In June 2022, the group announced a temporary break from their activities. Jin and J-Hope commenced their military service on December 13, 2022, and April 18, 2023, respectively, while Suga initiated his own enlistment process. RM, Jimin, and V have yet to announce their enlistment dates, but they will have to do so soon.
BTS has enjoyed immense success over the years, winning multiple accolades from prestigious institutions like the Korean Music Awards, the Billboard Music Awards, and the American Music Awards. They have been nominated for several Grammy Awards categories over three consecutive years (2021-2023), although they have yet to secure a win in the esteemed music awards.
In recognition of their significant contributions to promoting Korean culture through music, BTS was honoured with the prestigious Order of Cultural Merit by the South Korean government in 2018. The band has also collaborated with numerous international artists, including Coldplay, Ed Sheeran, Charlie Puth, and Nicki Minaj.
Jungkook has even ventured into the world of sports, releasing the song Dreamers featuring Qatari artist Fahad Al Kubaisi for the 2022 FIFA World Cup football tournament. He had the opportunity to perform the track during the opening ceremony of the tournament, showcasing his versatility as an artist.
