Assistant Professor of Medicine at Lahore General Hospital, Dr. Muhammad Maqsood, alongside Gynecologist Dr Laila Shafiq, spoke on the significance of adopting a simple diet for maintaining good health post-fasting.
Dr Shafiq cautioned against the consumption of hard foods directly after Ramazan, citing the softened state of the stomach after a month of fasting.
Poultry dishes, hot spices, and excessively spicy foods are to be avoided, particularly by individuals with conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, heart ailments, and gastrointestinal issues, as these can strain the body’s systems.
Furthermore, the medical experts advocated for the avoidance of junk food in favour of a diet rich in fruits and vegetables. The high water and fibre content in these foods not only impart a feeling of satiety but also help quench thirst. The natural sweetness of fruits can also satisfy the body’s need for sugars.
