Health Insurance Scheme for Journalists to be launched on August 7

ISLAMABAD: Information Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb Monday launched online form for Health Insurance for journalists and media workers.
Speaking on the occasion, Information Minister said journalists and media workers across the country can get themselves registered by downloading the form from Press Information Department website.
Federal government has earmarked Rs1 billion in FY2023-24 for health insurance of working journalists and media workers.
Aurangzeb said health insurance facility would go a long way in providing relief to media personnel in the current economic circumstances.
She said Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will issue health Insurance cards to journalists on August 7.
Resolving to uphold freedom of media, the minister said country’s ranking on Freedom of Expression Index has improved by seven places during the incumbent government’s tenure.
On the recent PEMRA amendment act, she said the legislation addresses issues such as forced layoffs and non-payment of salaries across the media industry.
