ISLAMABAD: The Behbud Arts & Crafts Bazaar 2025, one of the capital’s most popular cultural and charity events, is set to take place on October 11 and 12 at the Tulip Banquet Hall, Islamabad. The annual festival brings together artisans, designers and entrepreneurs from across the country, celebrating creativity, craftsmanship and community empowerment.

This year, Hum TV and Hum News have joined as the official media partners of the event, a collaboration which aims to promote local talent and raise awareness about Behbud’s ongoing initiatives for women’s economic empowerment, education and healthcare.

The two-day event will feature a diverse array of handmade crafts, traditional textiles, jewellery, art displays and food stalls, alongside live music and cultural performances. Visitors will have the opportunity to explore and support small-scale artisans while enjoying a lively and family-friendly atmosphere.

For decades, Behbud’s bazaars have served as a cornerstone of community development, generating funds for vocational training centres, schools and health programmes that benefit women and children from underprivileged areas.

With its blend of art, culture and social purpose, the Behbud Arts & Crafts Bazaar 2025 promises another memorable weekend in Islamabad’s cultural calendar.

Founded in 1967 in Rawalpindi after the 1965 war, the Behbud Association emerged as a grassroots movement to support widows and children through education, vocational training and healthcare. Its Karachi chapter, established in 1970, evolved into a self-sustaining social enterprise, driven by volunteers and artisans from diverse communities. Under President Mehveen Qureshi, Behbud Karachi has professionalised its operations and marketing while staying true to its founding vision, empowering women through economic independence.

Behbud Creations, its textile arm, showcases handcrafted products that preserve traditional stitching, embroidery and garment-making techniques passed down through generations. The association’s bazaars and melas have become cultural fixtures, while its artisans now span urban and rural Sindh. With profits reinvested into training and community welfare, Behbud stands as a model of sustainable, women-led enterprise — where every handmade piece tells a story of resilience, creativity and social transformation.
