Although GOLD was initially released in South Korea and on digital platforms on October 15, the physical album only became available in the United States ten days later.
With the latest entry, ITZY managed to match the–arguably the most successful girl group of all time– TWICE’s record for the most entries by a K-pop girl group on the Billboard 200.
The group has charted seven albums in less than four years, following previous releases such as “GUESS WHO”, “CHECKMATE”, “CHESHIRE” among other.
GOLD also entered the number three spot on the Billboard’s World Albums Sales chart and the Top Current Album Sales chart. This makes it the eight best-selling album of the week in the United States.
Meanwhile, the founder of JYP Entertainment, JY Park, discussed the success of various JYP artists, including ITZY.
During an interview, Park talked about the achievements of his groups; in particular, he noted that the success of his artists was ‘more’ important than his own.
He revealed that the company’s real revenue relied on the success of his artists, including TWICE and ITZY.
When asked about TWICE’s success in the United States, Park beamed with pride. “Yes, they are doing well in the US”, he said.
He also brought up ITZY’s new song, and talked in detail about the need for all the artists in his company to succeed.

The JYP Entertainment founder talked about previous attempts of breaking into the competitive US market. Park mentioned how he had to take a risk with “Wonder Girls” when few were attempting to do so.
When asked about the JYP’s top song in terms of copyright revenue, Park revealed that TWICE currently held that title. “What is Love?” surpassed other previous hits from his company, including “Nobody” and “Don’t Leave Me”.
