Jenny of Blackpink celebrates turning 28

SEOUL: Famous Korean singer Jenny of the Blackpink fame celebrated her birthday on Tuesday.

Posting a video on YouTube, the Blackpink singer can be seen clapping along to the birthday song in Korean.

In the video, the star can be seen in a dazzling blue dress. As she smiles, some people off camera can be heard singing the Korean rendition of the birthday song. Multiple gifts tied in cute blue bows are behind her. A tree decked in lights is also visible in the background.

Born Jennie Kim, the Korean pop singer and actress debuted in 2016 as part of Blackpink. The girl group, owned by the YG Entertainment, was an instant hit internationally.

Their earliest releases “Whistle” and “Boombayah” topped the charts internationally. “Whistle” was downloaded more than two million times in South Korea alone. Meanwhile, “Boombayah” hit number one spot on Billboard World Digital Song Sales chart. “Boombayah” has more than 1.6 billion views on YouTube, as well.

The Pink Venom singer started her own company Odd Atelier in November 2023. She is still signed to the YG Entertainment for group activities along with fellow bandmates, Lisa, Jisoo and Rose. However, all four Blackpink members have embarked on solo activities independent of the YG Entertainment.
