WEB DESK: Severe weather conditions are anticipated to hit Peshawar and various regions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, with significant rainfall, snowfall over higher altitudes, and isolated instances of hailstorms expected on Tuesday evening through Wednesday.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has indicated the approach of a westerly wave, set to enter the western parts of Pakistan by Tuesday evening or night, and likely to extend its influence over most upper and central areas of the country by Wednesday.

Areas expected to be affected include Waziristan, Kohat, Lakki Marwat, Bannu, Dera Ismail Khan, Chitral, Dir, Swat, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Haripur, Kohistan, Shangla, Buner, Bajaur, Karak, Khyber, Peshawar, Charsadda, Nowshera, Swabi, Mardan, and Kurram. The weather system may also bring heavy rainfall and hailstorms at isolated spots.

Road closures are likely in regions such as Galyat, Naran, Kaghan, Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Mansehra, Abbottabad, and Shangla due to heavy snowfall, with the possibility of landslides in Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Galyat. Loose structures, including electric poles and solar panels, could be damaged by the anticipated wind, thunderstorms, and hailstorms.

In Peshawar, minimum temperatures are expected to range between 11-13 degrees Celsius on Wednesday and 10-12 degrees Celsius on Thursday. Meanwhile, the previous 24 hours saw cold and partly cloudy weather across Peshawar and most parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Kalam registered the lowest temperature in the country, dipping 3 degrees Celsius below freezing point, while Peshawar recorded a minimum temperature of 11 degrees Celsius. Relative humidity during the morning hours was recorded at 77 per cent.
