Malala Yousafzai and Emma Watson grace London premiere of inspiring Olympic documentary

LONDON: In a captivating display of solidarity, Nobel Peace Prize laureate Malala Yousafzai and UN Women Goodwill Ambassador Emma Watson graced the red carpet at the Cineworld Leicester Square in London yesterday for the premiere screening of the much-anticipated documentary, We Dare to Dream.

Taking a brief respite from her pursuits in creative writing at Oxford University, Emma Watson stunned in an elegant all-black ensemble, accentuated by a criss-cross bralette beneath her black pantsuit.

The Harry Potter actress completed her look with a bold red lip and crystal-embellished strappy heels, exuding sophistication on the prestigious occasion.

Directed by the visionary Waad Al-Kateab, the filmmaker behind the Oscar-nominated For Sama in 2019, We Dare to Dream promises to follow the same path of acclaim.

The documentary chronicles the journeys of refugee athletes hailing from Iran, Syria, South Sudan, and Cameroon as they strive for greatness at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

The powerful narrative sheds light on the challenges faced by high-performance athletes residing in war-torn regions or places where their rights have been violated, serving as a poignant tribute to freedom.

The star-studded lineup behind the documentary includes Hollywood heavyweights such as Angelina Jolie, who serves as the Executive Producer, and Grammy-winning artist John Legend, contributing an original song titled Don’t Need to Sleep.

Both Malala Yousafzai and Emma Watson attended the premiere to celebrate the inspirational documentary. Emma, in addition to her red carpet appearance, actively participated in the Q&A session following the screening, showcasing her commitment to the film’s impactful message.

The camaraderie between the two influential women has deep roots, stretching back to 2015 when Emma interviewed Malala for the opening of the Into Film Festival.
