LONDON: A man in the United Kingdom, identified as Josh Williams, was fired from his job after spending hours searching for unusual topics on Google.
Speaking to a news agency, Williams revealed how his hasty decision to vent on social media after losing his job has now created obstacles for securing new employment opportunities.
He explained that he often did not have enough work to do, which led him to spend time searching for random, sometimes nonsensical things on Google.
He admitted that it was embarrassing, particularly because he had used all his savings to get dental work done in Türkiye, only to return and find himself unemployed.
Williams confessed to wasting over 50 hours on searches related to dental procedures in Türkiye, which, combined with taking multiple sick leaves, led to his dismissal in July. After being fired, Josh shared his frustrations in a TikTok video, which went viral—a move he now deeply regrets.
He mentioned that he regrets uploading the video, as potential employers now recognise him during job interviews and claim that his values do not align with their companies. Despite losing his job, Williams’ TikTok videos helped him earn £450, which he used to pay his rent.
