Meghan Markle hosts a women’s leadership event during Nigeria visit

ABUJA: The Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle joined the Director General of the World Trade Organisation, Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala this Saturday (May 11) to host a women’s leadership event in Nigeria’s capital Abuja.
Focusing on women’s leadership in Nigeria, Meghan spoke on being a role model and empowering the next generation of young girls.

“A familiar face for the next generation to say, Oh! She looks like me. And I can do that.” She said.
Meghan and Okonjo-Iweala also discussed the various challenges women in the country face when it comes to advancing their careers and being in leadership positions.
Meghan and her husband, Prince Harry, are on their first trip to Africa’s most populous nation. A trip prompted by links forged through the Invictus Games, an international sporting event started a decade ago, by the Duke, for military personnel wounded in action.
