‘Midsummer Chaos’ director defends series, reveals future plans

Midsummer Chaos

ISLAMABAD: The director of controversial web series Midsummer Chaos Ahmed Sarym took the opportunity to respond to criticism and unveil his future vision for the show.

According to Express Tribune, the exchange unfolded on X when a user shared their thoughts on career choices, cautioning against pursuing a path that might lead to the creation of a hypothetical Midsummer Chaos Season 2.

Sarym, rather than taking offense, encouraged a more constructive and supportive dialogue, stating, “I hope you find your peace and realise that putting other artists down just because you don’t resonate with their art isn’t good enough to encourage a hater mentality. There’s enough room for everyone. Best.”

Sarym’s response underscores the importance of nurturing a culture of constructive feedback and support within the creative industry, where artists can flourish and express their unique perspectives without the burden of undue criticism.

In an exclusive conversation with Hello Pakistan, Ahmed Sarym opened up about his vision for Midsummer Chaos, a coming-of-age teenage drama that has garnered both acclaim and mixed reviews.

The series delves into the lives of high school graduates in the elite city of Islamabad and their transformative summer experiences before college. Known for its compelling drama, thrills, and emotional rollercoaster, the show is now set to enter its second season.

Sarym expressed his eagerness to revisit the world of Midsummer Chaos. Having already explored the stories of adolescents in Islamabad and Lahore, he revealed his aspirations to shed light on the lives of young individuals in Karachi. However, he suggested that these plans would unfold in due time. “I would want to revisit Midsummer Chaos and complete it with a trilogy; I’ve told stories from both Islamabad and Lahore. I’d love to bring forth the lives of adolescents in Karachi…but all in good time,” remarked Sarym.

Since its inception, Midsummer Chaos has cultivated a dedicated following. While the first season was written and directed by Sarym himself, the second season saw the addition of Ayesha Naveed as a writer. Qissa Nagri’s YouTube channel has encapsulated the essence of Midsummer Chaos, describing it as a captivating teenage drama that delves deep into the lives of high school graduates. The show promises viewers a captivating journey filled with drama, excitement, and a rollercoaster of emotions.
