WEB DESK: The widely cherished video game Minecraft is finally getting a big upgrade for Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S platforms.
According to Comicbook, even though Minecraft is an Xbox first-party game, Microsoft hadn’t given it a modern upgrade for Xbox Series X and S. Instead, they allowed the Xbox One version to be played on these consoles using backward compatibility. But now, there’s hope for those waiting as an update seems to be coming soon.
However, a fresh listing for Minecraft on the Xbox Series X has been spotted on the offical ESRB game ratings website. This marks the second instance of such a listing in recent weeks, with another regulatory body having referred to a native Xbox Series X/S rendition of Minecraft in August. The rating itself seems to be similar to what other versions of Minecraft on different platforms have received.

Meanwhile, the release date for the anticipated update of Minecraft on the Xbox Series X and S remains unknown but when games appear on the ESRB website, it usually means they’re almost ready to be released. So, Microsoft and Mojang might officially announce this update in just a few days or weeks.
Prospects on PS5
What’s really interesting about the upcoming Minecraft upgrade for Xbox Series X is the possibility of a similar upgrade for the PlayStation 5. Although, Minecraft on PS5 is already available but it is mere the PS4 version through backward compatibility. The fact that Xbox Series X and S users are getting this upgrade makes people wonder if PlayStation fans will also get something similar.
However, it is pertinent to note that there hasn’t been a PS5 version of the popular game seen on the ESRB website or other rating websites.
Having said that, it seems like Mojang might not be working on an update for the PS5 right now. However, because Minecraft is very popular on PlayStation, there’s still a chance that they might release the update for these consoles, but we just don’t know yet.
