‘Oppenheimer’ director Christopher Nolan and producer Emma Thomas to receive honourary titles

LONDON: Renowned filmmaker and “Oppenheimer” director Christopher Nolan and his longtime collaborator and wife Emma Thomas are to receive honoury titles.
In a surprise annoucement on Thursday, the United Kingdom (UK) honours list was released just ahead of the Easter holiday. The husband-wife duo have been recognised for their services to the entertainment industry.
The British-American director is renowned for his cinematic works that have grossed over $6 billion worldwide. Nolan has been knighted for his outstanding services to film industry. Meanwhile, Emma Thomas similarly received a damehood in recognition of her contributions to the film industry.

The husband-wife duo recently earned widespread acclaim for their film “Oppenheimer,” based on the life of Robert Oppenheimer, the director of the Manhattan Project that developed the first nuclear weapons.
The movie garnered numerous accolades including the Best Picture award at the Oscars this year. Nolan was awared the Best Director award.
Their appearance on the honours list deviates from the norm, as such announcements usually take place during the New Year or on the monarch’s official birthday.
