Selahaddin Eyyubi

WEB DESK: In a groundbreaking collaboration, Pakistan and Turkey have come together to present the much-anticipated historical series, Kudüs Fatihi Selahaddin Eyyubi.

Turkey’s national TV channel TRT 1, in conjunction with Uğur Güneş, Adnan Siddiqui, and other renowned producers, recently unveiled a tantalising teaser for the epic portrayal of the revered Muslim ruler and founder of the Ayyubid dynasty.

The series will vividly recount the renowned commander’s heroic capture of Jerusalem during the Crusades and is slated for release on TRT 1 on November 13.

Previously, it was reported that veteran Pakistani actors Humayun Saeed and Adnan Siddiqui, in collaboration with Dr Kashif Ansari, Ahmet Faruk Bakacak, and Dr Junaid Ali Shah, had joined forces to bring this grand production to the screen.

Meanwhile, Adnan Siddiqui took to Instagram to share the teaser, where he penned an emotional message, inviting viewers to immerse themselves in the epic saga of Selahaddin Eyyubi, a true warrior king.

He described the upcoming period piece as an opportunity to step into an era marked by unparalleled valor and honor.

The lead role of Sultan Selahaddin Eyyubi is to be portrayed by the renowned Turkish actor Uğur Güneş, known for his impressive debut in TRT’s other famous historical series, Diriliş: Ertuğrul, in which he portrayed Tugtekin Bey.

The filming of Selahaddin Eyyubi is taking place on an expansive set meticulously designed to replicate the ancient city of Damascus, sprawling across a vast 200-acre area. The meticulously crafted set reportedly includes faithful recreations of mosques, bustling bazaars, grand palaces, and historic homes.

Earlier in October 2021, the producers from both countries had the honour of meeting with the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaaf Chief, who highlighted the importance of acquainting the younger generation with Muslim history.

The former premier expressed the hope that cross-media collaborations could be instrumental in achieving this goal, stating, “The series on the life of Selahaddin Eyyubi will make the youth aware of his historic role. It is high time to produce dramas and films based on historical narratives instead of sticking to routine topics.”
