LONDON: Prince Harry arrived in London on Wednesday to meet his father, King Charles III, at Clarence House, the King’s official residence. According to British media reports, this marks their first meeting since February 2024.
The Duke of Sussex, who has been in the UK since Monday for a series of engagements, was seen arriving at the royal residence in a black vehicle, just over an hour after the King returned from Scotland.
The King’s unexpected return to London sparked speculation in the British press about a long-anticipated reunion between the estranged father and son.
Harry stepped back from royal duties in 2020 and relocated to California. He last saw his father in person when he flew to the UK following the King’s cancer diagnosis last year.
Prince Harry says he would ‘love’ to reconcile with family
In May, Harry revealed that they were not on speaking terms, citing ongoing legal battles in the UK and his past accusations against the royal family, which were shared in high-profile television interviews and his memoir.
Despite the tensions, Harry has expressed hope for “reconciliation,” saying he is unsure “how much longer my father has.”
On Monday, Harry paid a visit to the grave of his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, who passed away on September 8, 2022. He also has several charity events planned during his stay.
Though Harry has returned to the UK three times since their last meeting, he had not been able to see his father, even on one occasion when they were just two miles apart at separate events.
However, on July 9, the King’s press secretary and Harry’s head of communications were seen meeting in London. A photo published by the Mail on Sunday showed them sitting together on a private terrace, alongside Harry’s UK spokesperson, fueling speculation of a possible reconciliation.
