Renovation on the cards for Lahore zoo and Safari Park

Recent reports indicate that Interim Chief Minister (CM) Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi has greenlit a comprehensive overhaul of Lahore Zoo and Safari Park, signaling exciting developments for both facilities. The aim of the exercise is to bring both tourist attractions at par with the international standards.

The ambitious project encompasses a multitude of improvements, including the introduction of new animal and bird species to enhance the visitor experience. Among the new inhabitants are pandas, hippos, rhinoceroses, African pigeons, black jaguars, pumas, and a type of wild goat – Chiltan Markhors.

In addition to the expansion of species, the upgrade plan involves the creation of a cutting-edge aquarium at both Lahore Zoo and Safari Park, boasting an impressive array of 142 marine life varieties. To prioritize the well-being and comfort of the animals, the enclosures will be transformed into world-class habitats.

The Safari Park itself will undergo a remarkable transformation, featuring distinct zones like the African zone, desert, and salt range. What’s more, a captivating night safari experience will be introduced, offering visitors a unique opportunity to observe nocturnal wildlife in action.

In a bid to streamline visitor access and convenience, CM Naqvi has directed the implementation of an e-ticketing system for Lahore Zoo and Safari Park. He reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring that both facilities meet international standards while pledging to enhance various amenities for visitors.

This exciting announcement was made during a meeting chaired by CM Naqvi, where he received a comprehensive briefing on the extensive upgrade plan. The gathering was attended by esteemed officials, including the Punjab Chief Secretary, Senior Member of the Board of Revenue, Chairman of Planning and Development, Secretaries from various departments, DG Wildlife, and other key stakeholders.
