S Korean actress Kang Seo Ha passes away at 31

SEOUL: Beloved K-drama star and renowned South Korean actress Kang Seo Ha tragically passed away at the age of 31 after a prolonged battle with cancer. She was also known by the stage name Kang Ye Won.

The news of her passing was revealed by a family member in an emotional Instagram post and was later confirmed by Star News Korea late on Monday.

Kang Seo Ha first entered the public eye in 2012 after appearing in the music video for Brave Guys’ “Growing Distant.” In 2014, she made her acting debut and rose to fame as an actress through multiple supporting roles in a variety of dramas. Most notably, Kang Seo Ha is known for her character portrayals in Seonam Girls’ High School Detectives, Assembly, First Love Again, Through the Waves, The Flower in Prison, and – perhaps most famously – Heart Surgeons.

Her final known role was in the drama Nobody Knows, where she played a member of the Seoul Police Department which earned critical praise as well as the love of her fans. She was also reported to have been cast in the upcoming series In the Net (also known as Mangnaein), alongside popular actors Kim Seon Ho and Park Gyu Young.

The heartbreaking news of her passing was accompanied by a deeply emotional tribute shared on Instagram by her younger sister. The post featured a reel of photos of the late actress and a touching caption expressing grief, admiration, and love. “Even when you were enduring immense pain, you worried about me and others around you,” the post read. “Come back as my sister again, and I will be good to you. I miss you a lot already! I love you!”

Kang Seo Ha’s funeral will be held at Room 8 of the Catholic University of Korea’s St Mary’s Hospital funeral home, with the procession scheduled for July 16 at 7:40 AM. She will be laid to rest at her family’s burial site in Haman, Gyeongnam Province.

Fans and colleagues across the country are mourning the loss of a talented actress whose gentle spirit and dedication left a lasting impression despite the hardships she faced.
