Sajjad Ali makes a comeback on Coke Studio after six years

KARACHI: Pakistani singer Sajjad Ali has made a significant return to the spotlight with his appearance on Coke Studio Season 15, after a six-year hiatus.
Ali’s latest performance features the song “Chal Chaliye,” a collaboration with Farheen Raza Jaffrey. In the performance, Sajjad Ali sported a shirt and waistcoat, while Jaffrey donned a maroon ensemble adorned with traditional Desi jewelry.
“Chal Chaliye” is a song about “finding the courage to break free from limitations, follow your dreams, and fully embrace your true self, even in the face of challenges or criticism from the world.” This marks Ali’s third appearance on the Coke Studio platform, with his previous performance in the 10th edition in 2017.
Sajjad Ali’s musical journey began with the song “Babia,” which catapulted him to fame. He continued to build on this success with several notable albums, including “Babia 93,” “Chief Sahib,” and “Sohni Lag Di.” In 2011, Ali contributed to Mansoor’s hit film “Bol” with several acclaimed tracks, and in 2013, he released the single album “Har Zulm.”

A regular fixture on Coke Studio, Ali has previously delivered memorable performances with songs like “Tum Naraz Ho” and “Ronay Na Diya.”
In an interview, Ali emphasized the enduring importance of songwriting in creating memorable music. “No matter what the genre may be, songwriting will remain the central idea behind memorable music, and that can only be improved with more exposure to all sorts of music and a yearning for experimenting,” he said.
