LAHORE: Reports circulating on social media suggest that Indian business magnate Sajjan Jindal, along with his wife Sangita Jindal, made a short visit to Jati Umra in Lahore to attend the wedding of Zaid Hussain Nawaz, grandson of former Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
According to Express News, Jindal flew into Pakistan on a private jet for the occasion. His visit, said to be brief, reportedly saw him arriving in Lahore from Mumbai around 11:43 AM, using a private aircraft registered in India, VT-JST.
The wedding has attracted significant attention, with close family members, political figures, and international guests coming together. The Walima reception, scheduled for Sunday, December 29, was expected to welcome 500 guests at the Baraat and around 700 at the Walima.
The Nikkah and Mehndi ceremonies had earlier taken place at Jati Umra, which was lavishly decorated for the celebrations. Guests from the US, UK, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, UAE, and India were expected to attend.
This isn’t the first time Jindal’s visits to Pakistan have made waves. In 2017, when Nawaz Sharif was Prime Minister, reports surfaced of a secret meeting between Jindal and Sharif, which stirred controversy over possible visa violations.
Nawaz Sharif’s grandson’s wedding has been the subject of much online chatter, though it remains uncertain whether Jindal was actually in Pakistan or if these reports are simply rumours circulating on social media.
Sajjan Jindal, who heads the JSW Group, is not only one of India’s largest steel producers but is also a key supporter of Indian athletes, sponsoring their participation in the Olympics and other major international events.
