ISLAMABAD: Actor Mukul Dev, best known for his role in the film “Son of Sardar”, has passed away at the age of 54.

Dev, who made a mark with his memorable roles in Bollywood, Punjabi and South Indian films and television dramas, died on Friday night at a hospital in New Delhi after a prolonged illness, his friend and fellow actor Vindu Dara Singh confirmed.

While the exact cause of death has not been disclosed, reports suggest Dev had been unwell for several days and was hospitalised for more than a week.

Singh said Dev had largely withdrawn from public life following the deaths of his parents and rarely stepped out or met friends. “His health deteriorated in the last few days, and he was in the hospital,” Singh added.
