Thai delegation visits Jaulian Stupa, lauds Pakistan’s archaeological preservation

HARIPUR: A high-level delegation from the Thai Embassy visited Jaulian Buddhist Stupa & Monastery in Khanpur – a historical and world heritage monument of Buddhist civilization.

On this occasion, the delegation not only expressed deep interest in Buddhist civilization and Buddha statues but also appreciated the excellent conservation measures and cleaning arrangements taken by the Department of Archaeology & Museums (DoAM).

In a briefing to the delegation, DoAM Senior Research Officer Syed Niaz Ali Bachchan comprehensively spoke on the historical importance of the stupa, its structure, artifacts related to Buddhist civilization, and ancient worship methods.

The head of the Thai delegation said that taking such good care of Buddhist holy places in Pakistan is commendable and this is a welcome development for Buddhist followers around the world.
He said that it is also worth mentioning that Pakistan is not only a peaceful country but also the followers of all religions enjoy complete freedom of worship here.

He added that people belonging to different religions including Buddhism, Hinduism, Sikhism not only visit their holy places here but also perform their religious rituals with joy and freedom, which is a good example of religious tolerance.
