The Princess of Genovia is finally coming back on screens!

The Princess Diaries 3 has been in the works for over two years but it seems that the wait is finally over for the fans of this princess of dreams. The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement hit the screens two decades ago in 2004, and fans have been waiting for more since. Then in 2016, the legendary screenwriter Garry Marshall passed away and the fans of the franchise buried their hopes as well.

Three years later, in 2019, Anne Hathaway – the princess herself – revealed that she and Julie Andrews were excited to revive the beloved relationship between the awkward Mia and the graceful Clarisse Marie Grimaldi Renaldo. It took four more years for the official news of the third movie of the franchise being developed. At the time, the producers of the movie kept the cast under wraps, but now finally we can breathe a sigh of relief to know that it is indeed Hathaway who is bringing the ‘Princess of Genovia’ back to the screens.

A few days ago, Hathaway took to her social media to announce the upcoming movie. She still did not give the fans much to go on, but at least this shows that the return of the beloved character is inevitable. The mystery of Mia’s romance with the Genovian aristocrat Nicholas, portrayed by Chris Pine, is still very much alive, with neither Hathaway nor Pine betraying any clues.

Rest assured, whatever has been brewing in the Genovian royalty will be revealed soon, and we just can’t wait!
