Eid ul Azha is a time of sacrifice, faith, and community, but it also brings the responsibility of maintaining cleanliness. Before dumping the remains on streets and heading to devour Kaleji and other items, make sure that you cooperate with the government representatives who are performing their duties to keep the public spaces clean and safe.
Here’s how to ensure a hygienic environment after Qurbani:
1. Preparation Before Qurbani
- Choose a clean, well-drained area for sacrifice.
- Lay down plastic sheets or tarpaulin to catch blood and waste.
- Keep gloves, disinfectant, garbage bags, buckets, and phenyl ready.
2. Immediate Cleanup After Qurbani
- Wash away blood stains immediately with water to prevent odours.
- Use disinfectant or phenyl to sanitise the area.
- Collect all waste (skin, bones, offal) in sealed garbage bags — never leave it in open spaces.

3. Proper Waste Disposal
- Avoid dumping waste in drains, streets, or empty plots — this spreads disease.
- Use designated waste collection points or municipal services (like LWMC in Lahore or SSWMB in Karachi).
- If possible, dig a deep pit for organic waste and cover it properly.
4. Community Cleanup Efforts
- Coordinate with neighbours for joint cleanup to maintain shared spaces.
- Wash streets with water and bleach to remove stains and odors.
- Sprinkle lime or bleaching powder to repel insects and reduce smell.
5. Food Safety & Hygiene
- Store meat covered and refrigerated immediately after processing.
- Use insect repellent sprays near meat storage areas.
- Keep raw and cooked meat separate to avoid contamination.
6. Islamic Emphasis on Cleanliness
- Islam teaches cleanliness as part of faith — neglecting it harms the community.
- A clean home and street reflect respect for neighbors and the environment.
- Proper disposal prevents disease outbreaks and pollution.
By following these steps, we can ensure that Eid ul Azha remains spiritually uplifting, safe, and hygienic for everyone. Let’s celebrate responsibly by keeping our surroundings clean!
