TikToker arrested for posing as a girl

SWABI: Police has arrested a TikToker from in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Swabi for making indecent videos while pretending to be a girl.

According to a spokesperson for Swabi Police, the TikToker was caught for making videos while disguised as a woman.

The spokesperson said the TikToker, identified as Abdul Muqeet, had been creating inappropriate videos in female attire and sharing them online.

These videos, officials said, were causing distress and unease in society.

He added that Aamir Khan, in-charge of Bamkhel police post, acted swiftly and arrested the accused, who is a resident of Bamkhel.

The FIR was lodged under Section 294 of the Pakistan Penal Code, which criminalises obscene acts or the use of indecent words, songs, or ballads in or near public places, causing annoyance to others. The offence carries a punishment of up to three months’ imprisonment, a fine, or both.

The police spokesperson further said that after his arrest, the suspect confessed to the crime and pledged not to engage in such immoral activities again.

Police officials said that the crackdown has been launched against social media influencers involved in creating objectionable content with cases filed against them under cyber crime laws.

According to police, the TikTokers have amassed millions of followers while engaging in this “heinous activity.”

TikTok has faced multiple bans in Pakistan in the past, with authorities citing the spread of indecent and objectionable content as the reason.

Earlier in July, the platform revealed that it had taken down 24,954,128 videos in Pakistan for violating its community guidelines.
