TikToker Samia Hijab’s kidnapper sent on five-day remand

Kidnapper of TikToker Samiya Hijab confesses

ISLAMABAD: The man accused of harassing and attempting to abduct TikToker Samia Hijab has been sent on a five-day physical remand.

On Tuesday, Islamabad’s District and Sessions Court took up the case involving TikToker Samia Hijab, who was allegedly kidnapped and threatened with murder.

Islamabad police had arrested the suspect on Monday, just hours after Samia Hijab posted a video online alleging an attempted kidnapping outside her residence. Shalimar Police registered an FIR of the incident and apprehended the accused during a raid.

The suspect, identified as Hassan Zahid, was produced before the court, where the judge questioned him about the alleged threats and kidnapping attempt. Zahid admitted his wrongdoing, telling the judge, “Sir, I made a mistake.”

Police requested an eight-day physical remand of the accused; however, the court approved a five-day remand instead.

A day before the hearing, Samia Hijab had shared a video statement presenting evidence against the accused. In the video, she alleged that she had been subjected to harassment similar to that faced by her friend Sana Yousaf, who had been killed in a similar incident when a young man broke into her house.

According to Hijab, the accused had been following her for the past three months. She claimed he recently appeared outside her Islamabad home, rang the doorbell, and allegedly snatched her mobile phone before escaping.

She further alleged that the suspect asked her to go with him, and when she refused, he forcibly pushed her into a car in an attempt to abduct her. At the time, her ailing mother was at home while her brother was away, she said.

Hijab stated that the police responded promptly to her complaint, visited her house, and assured her of protection. She has also appealed to the Inspector General of Police for enhanced security.

The TikToker has been in the spotlight in recent months after allegedly obscene videos featuring her surfaced online.

In April, she denied the allegations, claiming the clips were fabricated using artificial intelligence and leaked by her former boyfriend.
