Wheelie bad luck: motorcyclist fined amounts equal to bike’s value

LAHORE: A Motorcyclist in Lahore commits enough violations to be fined amounts equal to the motorcycle’s value.

The motorcyclist continued violating traffic rules in Lahore, as a result of which the e-challans kept generating by the safe city camera systems.

The authorities say that he was fined Rs55,200 for not wearing a helmet, along with continuous lane line violations. The amount is a result of 24 e-challans of Rs 2,000 each for failing to wear a helmet and nine e-challans for lane line, stop and signal violations.

According to Lahore Chief Traffic Officer, e-challans are issued for 19 violations of traffic rules, and the action against these violations is taken indiscriminately, with the help of an artificial intelligence (AI) system.

Safe City has been integrated with Police Khidmat Markazes and Driving License Issuance Management Systems as well.
