Will One Piece Season 2 release date be announced at Tudum?

WEB DESK: Netflix’s hit adaptation of Eiichiro Oda’s legendary manga and anime series, One Piece, may be getting a release date very soon, at the streaming company’s latest event.

The live action adaptation of One Piece was one of Netflix’s major success stories of 2023, becoming the platforms most watched show in the second half of the year with 72 million views and 541 million total watch hours. That means that the eight-episode season released in August, was Netflix’s most watched offering between July and December of 2023.

With the show’s incredible success, there was no doubt that a second season was on the horizon. And in 2025, it seems that it may be right around the corner.

On May 27, Netflix released a special announcement for the show on YouTube, featuring the iconic Straw Hat Pirates gathering together for a slumber party in which they watch a movie. That movie turned out to be an announcement for Netflix’s upcoming Tudum event.

The live broadcasted annual event began in 2020, as a way for Netflix to announce the latest information about their upcoming shows, as well as give audiences a chance to spend some additional time with their favourite casts.

This year is no different, and there’s a strong chance fans of One Piece will finally get a release date for season 2. But, it’s not just One Piece that will be featured at the event. Netflix have announced that their viewers’ favourite stars from a variety shows will be taking the stage on Saturday, May 31, in Los Angeles.

“The show is stacked with Netflix news and exclusive reveals about titles you won’t want to miss, including your favourite stars from Emily in Paris, Frankenstein, Happy Gilmore 2, Love Is Blind, ONE PIECE, Outer Banks, The Rip, Squid Game, Stranger Things, America’s Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders, The Life List, Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery, Wednesday, WWE, and more.”

The show will kick off at 8:00 PM eastern time, and is set to be hosted by Sofia Carson from My Oxford Year and The Life List. The event will also feature musical performances from Lady Gaga and Hanumankind.
