ISLAMABAD: Ten arrested members of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) attended the National Assembly session after production orders were issued by the National Assembly speaker.

The detained members were handed over to Acting Sergeant-at-Arms Farhat Abbas upon arrival.

After the session concludes, Parliament’s security officials will hand them over to the Islamabad police.
IHC Suspends Physical Remand of PTI Leaders
Meanwhile, the Islamabad High Court has suspended the decision regarding the physical remand of the arrested PTI leaders.
IHC Chief Justice Aamir Farooq and Justice Tamman Rifat Imtiaz presided over the hearing of the petition challenging the eight-day physical remand of the PTI leaders.
IHC Chief Justice Aamir Farooq remarked that if the court issues any order, the accused will be placed under judicial custody, adding that the physical remand order cannot be upheld. He further questioned, “If we proceed with this, what will happen?”
The petitioner’s lawyer argued that the court should limit the duration of physical remand, as the trial court had not provided any reasoning for the remand in its order.
Justice Aamir Farooq then questioned the prosecutor, asking how they intended to defend the decision for physical remand. In response, the prosecutor read out the FIRs against the accused in the court.
Subsequently, the court suspended the Anti-Terrorism Court’s decision regarding the physical remand, and issued a notice to the Advocate General of Islamabad, and adjourned the hearing until tomorrow.
It is important to note that PTI members of the National Assembly, including Sheikh Waqas, Shoaib Shaheen, Zain Qureshi, and Sher Afzal Marwat, had challenged the Anti-Terrorism Court’s eight-day remand order.
