136 foreign journalists to cover general elections

ISLAMABAD: More than 100 foreign journalists and twenty four media houses have gotten a nod from Ministry of Information for coverage of the general elections being held in the country on Feb 8, 2024.
According to a statement issued by the ministry, nearly 136 journalists from 24 various media houses had requested for covering the general elections in Pakistan.
The requests have been made from major international news outlest such as BBC, Al-Jazeera, Nikkei, AFP, AP IRIB, VOA, AKB,CNN, Kyodo, Washington Post, Arab News, Independent Urdu, NHK and Deutsche Welle among others.




The ministry has asked the Election Commission iof Pakistan to make the necessary arrangements for the foreign journalists to perform their duties and issue them the required accredition cards and badges.

It is worth mentioning here that the deadline for the application submission related to the election coverage permit for foreign journalists was January 20, 2024.
Sources claimed that the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) printed as many as 200,000 press accreditation cards for the coverage of the general election 2024.
Meanwhile, the delegations of the European Union and Commonwealth countries are also likely to visit Pakistan to observe the general elections.
