23 terrorists killed, 18 soldiers martyred in Balochistan operation: ISPR

WEB DESK: The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Saturday that 23 terrorists were killed as a result of an operation in Balochistan while 18 soldiers were also martyred. Terrorists were trying to block the roads in Mangochar, Kalat between the night of January 31 and February 1.

“The security forces successfully thwarted the terrorists’ malicious plans, while none of the locals got in harm’s way. The cowardly act of terrorism was aimed at targeting civilians and the objective of these terrorists was to disrupt Balochistan’s peaceful environment,” the statement said.

The forces also conducted an operation in Harnai, resulting in the elimination of 11 terrorists. The operation is part of ongoing efforts to combat terrorism in the region, and security forces have vowed to continue their actions in Harnai.

A security operation is still ongoing in the Mangochar area of Kalat.

President Asif Zardari condemned the terrorist act in Kalat and expressed condolences to the families of the martyred security personnel. He praised the bravery of the martyred security personnel: “The martyred personnel demonstrated bravery against the terrorists. Terrorist elements want to disrupt the peace in Balochistan but our security forces’ operations will continue to suppress anti-state elements.”

Zardari added that Pakistani people reject those who disrupt the peace of the country.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also condemned the attack and said that the forces brought 12 terrorists to justice. He offered his condolences to the families of the martyred soldiers: “The security forces have made great sacrifices for peace.”

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi also denounced the terrorist attack and praised the forces for foiling the malicious plan of terrorists.
