23 terrorists killed, seven soldiers martyred in KP operations: ISPR

ISLAMABAD: At least 23 terrorists were killed and seven Pakistani soldiers injured in gunbattles with militants in different areas of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa bordering Afghanistan.

“Seven valiant military officers and jawans were martyred in a series of operations against terrorists,” the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said adding that a total of 23 militants had also been killed in the last two days in intelligence-based operations on their hideouts in KP.

“The first operation was conducted on May 26 in Hasan Khel, Peshawar, followed by a second operation today in District Tank. A third operation was carried out in the Bagh area of Khyber district. The operations resulted in the elimination of 23 terrorists — 10 in Tank, seven in Khyber district, and six in Hasan Khel, Peshawar. Additionally, two terrorists were injured,” the ISPR said.

Among the martyrs were Naik Muhammad Ashfaq Butt and Lance Naik Syed Danish, as well as Sepoy Taimur Malik, Sepoy Nader Sagheer and Sepoy Muhammad Yasin.

The operations led to the recovery of a substantial cache of arms and ammunition from the slain terrorists, who were implicated in attacks on security forces and innocent civilians, the ISPR said.

“A clearance operation is currently under way to root out remaining terrorists in the areas. Security forces reaffirm their unwavering commitment to eradicating terrorism. The sacrifices of our youth strengthen our resolve,” the ISPR stated.
