3.5 magnitude earthquake jolts Karachi twice

KARACHI: A 3.5 magnitude struck the eastern parts of Karachi twice within an hour late on Sunday, officials confirmed.
After a brief pause of several days, tremors were once again felt in Karachi, spreading panic among residents.
Many recited religious verses and rushed out of their homes in fear.
The earthquake was felt at 3:54 pm in the eastern areas of the city. No damage to property or casualties have been reported so far.
Karachi is located near several active fault lines, but earthquakes are not a common occurrence for the provincial capital of Sindh. These shocks, even minor jolts, send alarm among citizens
According to the seismological centre, the quake originated at a depth of 5.6 kilometres, with the epicentre located northwest of Malir.

The tremors were brief, and there have been no reports of casualties or property damage.
It is worth noting that since June 1, the number of earthquakes felt in Karachi has now surpassed 30. The latest tremors have been reported from Quaidabad, Gadap, Malir, DHA, and Korangi.
On June 3, around 200 inmates escaped from Malir jail after a panic was caused by earthquake tremors.
CM Murad Ali Shah on termed the Malir jailbreak attempt following earthquake tremors as “deeply concerning,” while revealing his administration was coordinating with seismic monitoring centers to verify the geological activity.
