Five dead over land dispute in Kurram


PESHAWAR: At least five people were killed and 21 others injured in a violent clash involving a land dispute between two tribes in the Rum area of Tribal District Kurram, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).

District officials identified the dead as Wahab Ali Shah, Muhammad, Abdul Wali and Ali Khel.

The injured were transported to nearby hospitals for medical treatment with some of them reported to be in critical condition.

According to The Khorasan Diary, “the clash erupted after construction on a disputed land issue that has remained unresolved despite several efforts.”

The authorities concerned that that they were working to quell the unrest and prevent further escalation of hostilities by involving the locals.

The district administration and police are actively engaged in efforts to resolve the ongoing conflict.
