46th death anniversary of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto today

KARACHI: The 46th death anniversary of former Prime Minister and founder of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, is being observed today (Friday) with nationwide events.

The PPP has organized commemorative events at district headquarters across the country. The main ceremony is taking place at Bhutto’s mausoleum in Garhi Khuda Bakhsh, near Naudero in Larkana.

Thousands of party leaders and workers from all over Pakistan have gathered at Garhi Khuda Bakhsh to pay tribute to Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, Shaheed Benazir Bhutto, and other iconic party figures.

According to PPP senior leader Nisar Ahmed Khuhro, Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari will address the main public gathering, which is expected to draw a large number of supporters.

Security arrangements have been tightened. A massive security deployment has been made, including police, Rangers, female constables, and commandos. Walk-through gates and CCTV cameras have been installed to monitor the crowd. Sabeels have also been set up to serve cold water, food, and tea to attendees.

The death anniversary program of Zulfiikar Bhutto will begin at 1 PM, with writers and poets paying homage through their work. Speeches by party leaders will follow. The keynote address by Bilawal Bhutto Zardari is scheduled for 3 PM. A large stage, decorated with PPP flags, leader portraits, and banners, has been set up at the venue.

According to Larkana police, 8,500 personnel have been deployed, including 30 SSPs, 60 DSPs, 140 inspectors, and 700 traffic officers. A joint control room is monitoring the event in real time under the supervision of DIG, IG, and SSP offices.

Across the country, Quran Khawani and Fateha Khawani are also being held for the soul of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto.

The Sindh government has declared Friday a public holiday in Bhutto’s memory.
