5.8 magnitude earthquake jolts Islamabad, Lahore and other cities


ISLAMABAD: A 5.8 magnitude earthquake on Saturday night jolted Lahore, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Peshawar and other cities.

The National Seismic Monitoring Centre in Islamabad stated that the earthquake’s epicentre was located in the Hindukush Region of Afghanistan, at a depth of 196 kilometres.

The tremors were felt in various areas, including Islamabad, Lahore, Gujranwala, Gujarat, Kohat, Dir, Charsadda, Chitral, Malakand, Swat, Chiniot, Sargodha, Shikargarh, Pindi Bhatia, Attock, parts of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), Ghazar, Bannu, Laki Marwat, Dera Ismail Khan, and others.

There have been no reports of any damages or casualties so far.
