85 dengue cases reported in Rawalpindi

RAWALPINDI: At least 85 dengue cases have been reported across Rawalpindi Division in 2025, according to health officials.

According to the health department, the tally matches the number of cases recorded by the same date last year. Rawalpindi has reported 35 cases, while Murree has confirmed 42 cases amid growing concerns that the outbreak is worsening there.

In addition, four cases have been reported in Attock, three in Chakwal, and one in Jhelum. Last year, the division recorded 6,869 dengue cases, with Rawalpindi alone accounting for 6,564 of them.

Health officials confirmed that no dengue-related deaths have been reported in the division this year. However, hospitals have received 9,614 suspected dengue patients so far. Out of these, 311 cases were confirmed, with 15 patients admitted to hospitals. Murree currently has 10 dengue patients under treatment.

Authorities have also stepped up anti-dengue measures. In Rawalpindi, 2,440 FIRs have been registered, 1,112 premises sealed, 2,819 challans issued, and fines exceeding Rs40 million imposed over the presence of larvae.

In Murree, 43 FIRs have been lodged, 189 premises sealed, and fines amounting to Rs730,000 imposed. Health teams said dengue larvae were found in 1,747 houses in Murree during inspections.
