A case of exploding jackets: CTD says Peshawar bombers fell victims to their own designs

PESHAWAR: Investigations are ongoing following a motorcycle explosion on Nasir Bagh Road in Peshawar. CCTV footage has revealed the movements of suspected terrorists, according to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Counter Terrorism Department (CTD).

The investigation team says the three alleged terrorists departed from Peshawar’s Tehkal areas towards Phase III Chowk, Hayatabad at 6:37 PM. CTD added that at 6:43 PM, they took a U-turn near Tajabad, heading towards Nasir Bagh Road.

Upon turning towards Nasir Bagh Road, two of the individuals started wearing explosive jackets, the team observed while adding that eventually, the suspected terrorists inadvertently became victims of their own designs when the explosives they were carrying misfired.


CTD officials report that they could not identify the intended target of the individuals in Peshawar, and one of the injured suspects from the explosion is currently receiving medical treatment.
