Administrative failure: Overturned oil tanker a disaster in waiting

KARACHI: Authorities have failed to remove an overturned oil tanker at Baloch Colony Bridge since last night and the leaking oil is a disaster in waiting.

The Baloch Colony Bridge remains closed to traffic from both sides following an accident last night, where an oil tanker overturned on a car, leaving one person dead.

Despite several hours passing since the incident, the district administration has yet to arrive on the scene for removing the oil tanker.

Police officials have reported that kerosene continues to leak from the tanker, posing a significant risk of further accidents.

They said a large crane needed to remove the oil tanker, which has not yet been dispatched by the local administration. The ongoing spill is causing severe disruptions, particularly for office-goers, as both tracks of the bridge remain closed to traffic.

Those heading to the Korangi Industrial Area are being redirected to alternative routes.

The situation highlights a glaring negligence on the part of local authorities, who have failed to promptly address the oil spill and clear the bridge for commuters.

Residents and commuters have expressed frustration over the delay in response, emphasizing the need for immediate action to prevent any potential hazards due to the kerosene spill.
